Everton could be forced down to shut Finch Farm

Officials from the DCMS have suggested that Everton could be forced to shut down their USM Finch Farm training ground.

According to The Times political correspondent Steven Swinford, they have raised concerns about the future of the Toffees as well as Chelsea if Alisher Usmanov and Roman Abramovich are sanctioned.

There have been plans to limit the impact on clubs should this take place.

Via his personal Twitter account, Swinford said, “Officials from DCMS have raised concerns about future of Chelsea and Everton if Abramovich and Alisher Usmanov are sanctioned

“They’ve specifically suggested Everton could be forced to close its ground

“Contingency plans are being drawn up to limit impact on clubs.”

Ridiculous

It’s baffling to suggest that the Toffees may be forced to shut down their training ground.

Whatever Usmanov’s ties are to Vladimir Putin, should not affect the day-to-day running of a Premier League club.

The training ground is one of the most important aspects and it gets the team ready for the official matches.

Whatever action should be taken, clubs should not be the ones suffering.

They’re responsible for the livelihood of so many people and even broadcasters will be impacted if Everton suddenly cannot play games for a few weeks.

Hopefully, some common sense prevails here.
