Efan Ekoku praises Everton attacker Anthony Gordon despite big loss to Spurs

Efan Ekoku was impressed with Anthony Gordon for his work-rate as Everton suffered a big defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

With the Toffees in a relegation battle, the last thing they would have wanted was to lose by a 5-0 scoreline on Monday night. (March 7)

However, when the score was 0-0, Gordon tracked back incredibly well to deny Son a goal-scoring opportunity.

Speaking on the Premier League world feed, Ekoku, a Sky Sports pundit, said, “Robust challenge there from Gordon. Exceptional covering by him. That’s a chance missed for Spurs.”

Rare glimmer of hope

If there was one positive that could be taken from this humiliating defeat, it would be the performance of Gordon.

The youngster never showed a defeated look on his face and played like the game was still in the balance, despite being on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline.

He gave the Spurs back line a few nervous moments and has done enough to cement his place in the team.

As for the others, it was a shocking display and one they would want to forget as soon as possible.

Frank Lampard has a massive job on his hands as he must take equal responsibility for this and it’s unfair to throw the players under the bus for every bad result.
