Everton unlikely to lose £300m after severed Alisher Usmanov ties

Everton are unlikely to lose up to £300million after severing ties with Alisher Usmanov, claims Chris Beesley.

In his recent Liverpool Echo piece, he stated that the club are not concerned with any possible points deduction despite reports in the Daily Mail suggesting that it could be on the cards.

He also rubbished the fact that the Usmanov move would hamstring the club in such a drastic manner.

Beesley wrote, “Claims that cutting financial ties with sponsor Alisher Usmanov, a former long-time business associate of owner Farhad Moshiri could cost the club around £300million are also believed to be wide of the mark.”

Staggering numbers

Everton did the right thing by cutting all their ties with Usmanov.

Given the current political climate with Russia invading Ukraine, the last thing they would want it is to be associated with someone who’s got close ties to the Kremlin.

But it’s good that the decision has not cost the club that much.

While it will still be a significant amount, any money saved is beneficial for the club, given their FFP constraints.

It remains to be seen what Farhad Moshiri’s plans are to get the Toffees out of this mess and hopefully, he makes the right call and makes it quickly.

In other Everton news, a Sky Sports pundit has labelled a Toffees player ‘Terrible’ and ‘Awful’ after what he did in the 5-0 defeat against Spurs.
