Chris Sutton slams Frank Lampard for throwing Everton players under the bus
Chris Sutton has slammed Frank Lampard for throwing his Everton players under the bus after their FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.
The Toffees lost 4-0 and that ended any hopes of getting silverware in a season they’re already battling relegation.
After the game, Sutton believes that the manager should have taken responsibility and not criticised his players in interviews and press conferences.

He told BBC, “The team are in an absolute mess but his language was extremely strong, questioning the side’s courage.
“He’s come out and slaughtered his players and yet he needs these players to keep him up, so what he said is very, very dangerous in my book. It’s a big gamble what he said and let’s see whether the players react.
“It’s not a good dressing room at this time but when you start questioning player’s courage, I think there may be a problem.”
Right move?
Lampard may think that tough love is the right approach to go about things as it must have worked for him at Derby and to an extent at Chelsea.
However, at Everton, these players have played under more experienced and tactically astute managers.

They’ve downed tools under them as well, so why does he expect them to treat him differently?
He came in as a uniting character and not someone who was going to be the second coming of Jose Mourinho.
Had results been good and there were a few bad eggs in the dressing room, then Lampard’s approach might have worked.
However, until then, he must stop doing this and focus on delivering wins.
