Dr Dan: Everton could offset losses through Covid and new stadium costs
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Everton could and are offset their losses as Covid-related ones as well as costs for construction of the new stadium.
That’s according to Dr Dan Plumley who claims that’s how the Toffees are looking to tackle a potential points deduction from the Premier League.
This comes after The Daily Mail reported that the Toffees are risking a docking of points due to falling shy of FFP rules.

Their losses have exceeded the allowed limits and the Premier League could take matters in their own hands.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, the Sheffield Hallam University expert, said, “
“The numbers were already on the edge. This report suggests that it’s a big breach in the losses and quite a substantial one.
“In terms of a sanction, we haven’t seen it happen yet so the chances of it happening are low.
“We haven’t seen a Premier League side having their points deducted because of FFP.
“The club will be looking to offset some losses against Covid and stadium build.”

The Toffees are expected to be negotiating with the Premier League over a way to avoid any of these rules.
However, should the Toffees get relegated, then the league will not have the authority to do so.
In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
