Richard Keys wants Lampard to drop Everton keeper Jordan Pickford for Asmir Begovic
Richard Keys has urged Everton and Frank Lampard to wield the axe on Jordan Pickford and play Asmir Begovic.
The England international has come under immense scrutiny for his performances in the Premier League.
Despite him starring for the Three Lions, Keys believes that Gareth Southgate must also stop considering him as his first choice.
He wrote in his blog, “He makes me nervous. Imagine playing in front of him. You’d shit yourself. As a defender, you’ve got to have total confidence in the guy behind you. That’s the last thing that Pickford inspires.
“He doesn’t make my top 6 PL keepers. One who does isn’t even playing – Henderson. He’s better. Pope would be ahead of him in my view – but Ramsdale is the best available.
“Southgate has got to get him in and stick with him. Right now. Pickford has had his turn. He simply isn’t good enough at the very highest level.
“The evidence is to be seen at Goodison week after week. If Everton want to stay up they’d be better off playing Asmir Begovic.”

It’s weird to see Keys coming out and criticising Pickford just after he had an incredible game for England.
Surely Southgate would not want to drop one of his in-form players based on how he fares for a dysfunctional Everton side if he’s able to show up on international duty.
As far his club performances go, we second Keys’ view.
Pickford has been far from convincing in goal and could do with some time away from the playing eleven.
It remains to be seen if Frank Lampard is brave enough to make that call as thus far, most of his decisions have been very safe, to say the least.
