Kieran Maguire: Everton matchday income lower than most Premier League clubs

Kieran Maguire claims that Everton have one of the lowest matchday incomes among all 20 Premier League clubs.

The Toffees announced on Tuesday that they had suffered losses to the tune of £120.9million in the year 2020-21.

This meant that their losses over the last three years have been over £300million which has led them being awfully close to the edge with FFP.

Discussing this on Sky Sports, via Football Daily, Maguire, a finance expert said, “Everton have a number of legacy costs in terms of wages and transfer fees.

“The Everton wage bill has continued to rise so the losses were in line with expectations.

“Everton also had the issue of matches taking place behind closed doors.

“This meant that they had no matchday receipts, although their matchday receipts are significantly lower than many other clubs in the Premier League.

“So, you factor that all in and they have made losses of over £100million for each of the last three years.”

Shambolic

This club has been mismanaged right from the top and there seem to no signs of improvement.

There have been behind-the-scenes changes but nothing significant is happening differently at Goodison Park.

Incompetence begins right from Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright and the rest of the board follows suit.

The lack of structure has gotten the Toffees awfully close to relegation – the first that it’s happened in years.

Whether the new CEO can change things or not, remains to be seen, but as of now, everything appears to be a mess.

In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
