Richard Keys lashes out at Dele Alli, fears for his Everton future

Richard Keys believes that Dele Alli is no longer the player he once was after failing to settle at Everton since his move in January.

The England international joined the Toffees from Spurs as part of a free transfer with appearance-based add-ons for a future date.

There was a belief that he would turn things around Frank Lampard, but that’s clearly not how things have transpired.

Discussing this situation on his blog, Keys wrote, “Deli Alli hasn’t ‘mysteriously’ disappeared Graeme. He was the subject of another blog months ago. I’m afraid he’s gone.

“Poch, Mourinho, Nuno and Conte have all failed to get a tune out of him. Lampard will as well. Dele will never be the same again.”

Big mistake

It made very little sense to sign Alli, especially when the club got in Donny van de Beek – who plays the same position.

None of them have quite been used correctly by Lampard, but that is a different issue altigether.

We do not know how this deal is structured and whether the Toffees can look to sell Alli in the summer.

Spurs surely will be furious if they let him leave on free and will demand something in compensation from the sale.

If Lampard, or whoever succeeds him next season, wants to give Alli a second chance, then he could trigger the appearances clause in his contract.

As of now, it seems pointless to have him on the pitch as he does not add anything of value to the team.
