Everton plot summer move for Wolves centre-back Conor Coady

Everton are reportedly plotting a summer swoop for Wolves centre-back and England international Conor Coady.

According to TEAMtalk, new director of football Kevin Thelwell is on good terms with them as he was the one who brought him to the Molineux in 2015.

The Toffees are hopeful that his influence could swing things in their way and make Coady consider a switch to Goodison Park.

Step down?

Wolves are a club on a high and look to be fighting for a European finish this season.

Everton, on the other hand, are in the midst of a relegation battle and they may not be a Premier League side next season.

No amount of influence would make Coady want to leave a project on the rise for something as dysfunctional as the Toffees.

It would require pulling out the big bucks – something that Everton cannot afford due to their FFP constraints.

The England international, who has been heralded for his “phenomenal” rise, may only leave for a team that can offer him Champions League football.

Only a miracle can bring him to Goodison Park this summer and the Toffees are better off looking elsewhere for a centre-back to strengthen their first team in the coming transfer window.

In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
