The Everton hierarchy were left raging at major reports linking Dominic Calvert-Lewin with a move to Arsenal this week.
That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who shared how senior officials were fuming as GQ insisted the striker was on the “brink” of joining the Gunners.
It is said that those senior officials at Goodison Park believed it disrupted preparation for the defeat at Burnley on Wednesday evening [06 April].
Calvert-Lewin can not control when these articles are released, and it was likely that the interview was done previously.
Of course, after being beaten by Burnley on Wednesday, the last thing he will have wanted to have seen was that on social media.
The England international has been nothing like his usual self this season, with injuries ravaging his entire campaign.
Completing 90 minutes at Burnley was a positive, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that he looks awful at this moment.
Shocking.
Of course, this has nothing to do with Calvert-Lewin, but the article certainly needs to be questioned.
Where they got this news from is questionable to say the least, with latest updates suggesting otherwise.
The Telegraph have reported that Arsenal have cooled their interest ahead of the summer, and taht is brilliant news for everyone at Goodison Park.
Of course, relegation would guarantee his exit, but staying in the top-flight gives Frank Lampard the chance to build his side with Calvert-Lewin up top.
Hopefully, that can put everything to bed and we can forget Arsenal and Calvert-Lewin can fire us to safety this season.
