Keith Hackett: Everton did not deserve penalty v Manchester United, Jon Moss got it right
We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Keith Hackett has insisted that Jon Moss was right not to hand Everton a penalty against Manchester United on Saturday.
The ex-FIFA official admitted that he was happy with the decision and would not have given it himself.
Anthony Gordon was left calling for a spot-kick after a tangle of legs with Alex Telles in the second half at Goodison Park.

“I’m not giving anything,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“I’m happy with that, I think Jon Moss has got that one right.”

Last laugh.
You can clearly see in the BBC footage from Match of the Day that it was just an innocent tangle of legs.
In that situation though, you are going to appeal, especially in such a huge game, and one that Gordon took the headlines from.
Given the awful consistency of officiating in the Premier League this season, it would have been no surprise if this was given.
The young winger had already dealt the killer blow in the first half, with his deflected strike securing all three points.
Thankfully, it counted for nothing in the end, but we certainly would have needed some much-deserved luck to get this one given anyway.
