Everton defender Yerry Mina should return v Leicester City

Everton defender Yerry Mina is likely to return against Leicester City, according to Liverpool Echo.

The Colombian defender has been missing since coming off injured in the 3-1 defeat at Newcastle.

The Toffees will get around ten days time to prepare themselves against Leicester, and Mina should return around that time.

The Colombian international should be “raring to go”, and the Echo suggests he is likely to go straight into the starting line-up as well.

Selection dilemma

Mina is arguably the best defender at the club.

He is a leader at the back, and when fit he top quality. He marshalls the defence with great aplomb, and hardly makes any mistakes.

The 27-year-old is strong in the air and he is equally good with his tackles and anticipation.

The Colombian brings his wealth of experience into the side, and the Toffees defence looks more stable when he is around.

However, his fitness is a huge worry. It’s good to get him back in the business end of the season, and he could play a huge part in helping the club avoid relegation.

Having said that his return is likely to provide a selection headache for Frank Lampard.

Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey were excellent against Manchester United, and Lampard could be tempted to keep the pair intact against the Foxes.

Mina should come into the side in place of Keane. We have seen this season that Keane lacks consistency, and he is prone to make errors.

The problem with Keane is that he is occasionally good, but has let his team down on a number of occasions.
