View: Frank Lampard must start with Demarai Gray in Everton clash v Leicester

Everton take on Leicester City in the next must-win Premier League game in 10 days’ time.

Frank Lampard will get a lot of time to train his players properly ahead of the clash at Goodison Park.

The Toffees players will not only get a good rest, but it is also high time to work on tactics.

For Lampard, this break will give him an opportunity to go back to his tactics board and chalk out a plan to beat Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The Toffees have got some breathing space after they won 1-0 against Manchester United in the previous game. They are 17th in the league but are now four points ahead of Burnley.

The away record has been pathetic and Lampard will have to focus on the home form instead to gain more points on board.

He needs to make a bold call and drop Dominic Calvert-Lewin for this game.

Since returning from injury, Calvert-Lewin has struggled for form and fitness. He gives the impression of the shadow of the player he was last season.

His movement hasn’t been sharp while his overall involvement was below par against Manchester United. It was a stinker (check GN player ratings), to be honest, and for a player of his ability, he should be doing a lot more.

With that in mind, Lampard must bring Demarai Gray into the side.

The 25-year-old winger should start on the left hand side in the front three alongside Richarlison and Anthony Gordon. Tony Gale called him “brilliant” for his performance against Norwich City, earlier this season, and Lampard should use him to make a fluid front three against Leicester.

At home, Everton need to make the best use of home advantage and play with some confidence. With Gray and Richarlison upfront, they can expect to create more clear-cut chances.
