Chris Sutton: Frank Lampard will be ‘petrified’ by awful Everton away form & fixtures this season

Chris Sutton has insisted that Frank Lampard will be “petrified” about upcoming away fixtures for Everton.

The Toffees have struggled massively away from Goodison Park, where they beat Manchester United on Saturday.

With games at Liverpool, Leicester, Watford and Arsenal to come, Sutton believes that the away form has been “pathetic” at times.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on the Monday Night Club [11 April], Sutton certainly didn’t hold back on his assessment.

“Everton’s problem is that their away form is so bad,” he said. “Frank Lampard will be petrified with the away games, how does he turn that around?

“I think it’s a real headscratcher, at home, I was there when beat Arsenal 2-1, the atmosphere there earlier in the season was incredible.

“How can you play like that with that intensity against a good Arsenal side as it was, and then, I was also at the Spurs stadium when they were beaten 5-0 and they were pathetic, this is what Lampard has to contend with.”

Everton

Awful.

Everyone knows that the away form of the Toffees has been nothing short of shocking throughout this season.

Thankfully, Goodison Park has proved once again to be a fortress in what has been an awful season altogether.

Lampard was thrown into this mess and hasn’t been able to change it with defeats against Spurs, West Ham and Burnley the latest.

Our four remaining trips all could have massive implications, with even the Watford showdown a potential six-pointer at that time.

Should our home form also go out of the window in weeks to come, we will need to pick up some points away, so this could be a huge month ahead.

We aren’t safe yet.
