John Ebbrell set to be Everton U-23s manager until end of season
John Ebbrell is set to be Everton U-23s manager until the end of the 2021/22 season, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Toffees legend David Unsworth decided to step down from his position to pursue a first-team managerial career.
After spending nearly a decade at the club, he needed to be replaced and instead of bringing someone new in, Ebbrell, who was previously his assistant, will now take charge of the team.

Right move?
The Englishman has experience of working with the current crop of youngsters so it makes sense to keep him in that role.
Unsworth’s departure surely would’ve been a disappointing one as he was quite a popular figure behind the scenes.
Ebbrell will have a chance until the end of the season to prove his worth and if the results are not good enough then the Toffees could look to bring in someone else.
Unsworth was also the Academy Director at the club, but that role is not believed to be given to the 52-year-old.

Instead, Everton will be looking to split up Unsworth’s titles into two different positions so there could be another appointment in the coming weeks.
It remains to be seen if all these changes behind the scenes can translate into wins on the pitch for the Toffees.
