Jeff Stelling stunned by heroics of Everton loanee Nathan Broadhead for Sunderland today

Jeff Stelling was left stunned by Everton loanee Nathan Broadhead after his heroics for Sunderland against Shrewsbury today.

The Black Cats sacrificed a two-goal lead only for the Toffees sensation to smash home the winner late on at the Stadium of Light.

Broadhead has struggled with injuries this season, but hit double figures today after his goals secured three points.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Gilette Soccer Special today [15 April], Stelling reacted to the Toffees loanee.

“Amazing stat for you, Sunderland will be unbeaten in nine games, they have scored later than the 82nd minute nine times,” he said.

“Nathan Broadhead, the Everton loanee, they’ve missed him.”

Hero.

Wow, it was another day of Broadhead making the headlines.

The young striker is really staking a claim to be involved at Everton next season and beyond, with his goalscoring antics continuing.

Watching the goals, there is a real poachers instinct in the Welshman, and that is a really good habit to have, and something the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin certainly don’t have.

Richarlison has been playing further out wide, so a central man with that instinct could be what Frank Lampard wants.

The Toffees boss will want reinforcements in the final third over the summer should we stay up or even go down, but it could be starting him in the face.

Of course, many will want bigger names, but if the likes of Cenk Tosun and Salomon Rondon both leave, Broadhead could easily fill one of those spots.

All he can do right now is fire Sunderland into the Championship, and if he does that, he has to be given the chance at Goodison Park next season.
