Dr Dan: Everton set for commerical growth through new stadium but relegation woes exist
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Everton have plenty of opportunities to enter commercial deals tied to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
That’s according to Dr Dan Plumley who claims that the overall health of the industry is better post Covid than what most people expected.
He cites a report from the European Sponsorship Association finds that rights holders are confident about the health of the industry

However, there is the underlying fear of relegation which could have a damning impact on the Toffees.
The financial value of the deals tied to the new stadium will be significantly lower than what they will be if they’re in the Premier League.
Discussing this with Goodison News, the Sheffield Hallam University expert said,
“It’s good news for the industry. The sponsorships and wider markets have not fallen away as they might have done.
“In terms of Everton, absolutely. You can tag the new stadium onto that and the expansion will create commercial opportunities for them to explore.
“However, with Everton you have to link it with where they are on the pitch because the monetary value of those deals will be higher in the Premier League.
“To realise that in the short or medium term they’ve got to stay up.”

Liverpool Business News reported recently that the club still have plans for the new stadium in case of relegation.
However, rather than relying on their revenues, they will have to turn to external funding.
In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
