Jody Morris shares real reason why Frank Lampard accepted Everton job

Jody Morris believes Frank Lampard joined Everton because they are a big club in his eyes.

The Chelsea coach, who worked with Lampard at Derby as well as Stamford Bridge, believes that the former England midfielder is in it for the long haul.

He thinks that Lampard guiding the Toffees to safety will see the board backing him with a major transfer kitty this summer.

Speaking on PL Today, Morris said, “You can’t legislate individual mistakes. He’s hoping he stays up this season and the club backs him in the summer.

“One of the reasons he went there is because they were underperforming
But, the main reason he took the job is because Everton are a huge club in his eyes.

“Frank will be thinking long term. As of now, he’s thinking about how many wins will keep him in the Premier League and the world’s his oyster in the summer.”

Right man?

Even if the Toffees finish 17th, will Lampard have done enough to prove he deserves the job?

He’s not really improved too many players at the club and the results haven’t been great either.

However, sacking a manager is not a cheap affair so the Toffees board may think twice before doing it.

Given their FFP concerns, it remains to be seen if they will back him in the transfer window.

Rafa Benitez clearly wasn’t backed and when he was it was too little too late.

Things need to change structurally at Everton and we do not see things happening any time soon.
