View: Farhad Moshiri could hand Salomon Rondon new Everton contract if he shines again v Liverpool

Frank Lampard may have made one mistake against Leicester, but it certainly worked out in the end for Everton.

Salomon Rondon was left on the bench despite the Foxes heavily struggling aerially, and he made that known after coming on.

The power of the Venezuelan caused constant problems and played a huge role in Richarlison’s equaliser at Goodison Park.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing last night and also for the Merseyside derby on Sunday, Rondon will now be pushing for a start.

The Toffees will not be expected to have much possession at Anfield, we all know that with Liverpool in great form.

So, utilising the long ball and set-pieces could be a real outlet, and there aren’t much better out there than Rondon.

This could lead to Richarlison or Anthony Gordon running onto flick-ons and loose balls in the final third.

New contract?

This is the time for Rondon to show that he deserves a new deal.

The 32-year-old has only started eight games this season, but now it is time for him to get his first chance from the start since January.

If Rondon can inspire a huge victory, it could all but secure our future in the Premier League, and also his own future.

Farhad Moshiri could even hand him a new shock contract at Goodison Park, and keep him around.

With Cenk Tosun likely to leave, Lampard may ask to keep one experienced head in the final third, and Rondon is certainly the most likely to stay.

All of this is based on if he is handed that start, and the outcast may surely have earned it, then all he would have to do is inspire a win.

Easier said than done.
