Michael Owen: Everton will be looking to avoid big defeat v Liverpool
Michael Owen believes that Everton will be in damage limitation mode for the Merseyside derby against Liverpool today.
The Reds are in the form of their lives as they’re chasing Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
The Toffees, on the other hand, face a very realistic prospect of relegation and cannot afford a battering in the derby.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen said, “Goal difference could be massive today. They don’t want to take a beating today. Relegation could be decided on goal difference.”

If Frank Lampard sets his team up to play toe to toe with Liverpool, his side could get obliterated.
Not only are Jurgen Klopp’s men one of the best pressers in Europe they’re also very press resistant.
Lampard may be better asking his players to keep a deeper line and let the game come to them.

The likes of Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray and even Richarlison could help the Blues play on the counterattack.
If they manage to get even a point from this one, there will be celebrations among the Toffees fans.
They know how important that would be not just in terms of bragging rights but also in the larger context of Premier League survival.
In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
