John Terry thrilled by Everton winger Anthony Gordon

John Terry has showered praise on Anthony Gordon after Everton lost 2-0 against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The former Chelsea skipper (and Premier League legend), has hailed the youngster as a “top player” on his Instagram story.

Gordon was involved in some controversial moments during the game, and Terry was thrilled by what he saw from the youngster.

Terry wrote on the Instagram story: “I love watching this young man. Top player who will have a big career in the game. Gives everything for the shirt every week.”

Controversial

Everton came with clear tactics to frustrate Liverpool. They managed to do so successfully in the first half as they kept it 0-0 at the break.

Goals from Andrew Robertson and Divock Origi sealed all three points for the Reds.

With Burnley winning their respective game against Wolves, Everton have dropped down in the Premier League’s relegation zone with only a handful of games left to play.

Gordon appealed for a foul after a challenge from Trent Alexander-Arnold, while he was clearly fouled by Joel Matip inside the penalty area after the break.

The 21-year-old was lively during the game and was constantly involved in the thick of actions. Terry has predicted that the youngster will have a big career in the game.

Gary Lineker has even questioned on his personal Twitter account why Everton were not allowed a penalty on the challenge on Gordon from Matip when the scoreline was still 0-0.

It was a determined performance from the Toffees but eventually, they were undone by superior quality from the home side and some poor referring decisions.

In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
