Paul Merson: Everton in huge trouble if Burnley beat Watford on Saturday afternoon
Paul Merson has insisted that Everton are in “major trouble” if Burnley beat Watford in the Premier League later today.
The Toffees are currently sitting in the bottom three, two points behind the Clarets as things stand in the relegation race.
Everton don’t play Chelsea until tomorrow [01 May], and could start that one five points behind Leeds and Burnley.

Writing in his latest column for the Daily Star, Merson predicted major trouble on the horizon for the Toffees.
“The Watford game is massive,” he wrote. “Absolutely huge. Suddenly, I can’t see Burnley not winning.
“And if they do, Everton are in major trouble. I thought Burnley were done. They were atrocious losing to Norwich but they haven’t lost since.”

All eyes on.
Frank Lampard will be wanting his side to concentrate on tomorrow against Chelsea only, but he will also know that is impossible.
You can only control your own future in these situations, but it is right that we haven’t had any help from those around us.
Watford are due a big performance after wasting chances against Brentford and Leeds in recent weeks, and if it came today, it would be perfect.
It will still leave the Toffees needing to beat Chelsea, Leicester or both in order to escape the bottom three before the next full round of fixtures.
Merson is right though, it will become a huge task if Burnley win today and take their gap to five points, and it would really start to sink in.
All this squad can do is concentrate on themselves, and we hope that is enough to bring home some big results sooner rather than later.
