Gary Lineker discusses final Everton game at Goodison Park

Gary Lineker reacted to footage from an Everton game from May 1986 where he bagged a hat-trick against Southampton in a 6-1 win.

He admits that he did not know at the time that it was going to be his final game for the Toffees at Goodison Park.

However, he agrees that he had some of the fondest memories of his playing career at the home of Everton.

Via his personal Twitter account, Lineker wrote, “Didn’t know it at the time but this was to be my last game for Everton at Goodison Park. Wonderful memories of playing there.”

Legend

Lineker is a true legend of the game and of the iconic Everton Football Club.

His goals were so effortless and classy and even his all-round play was immaculate.

Watching him play was certainly a treat for sore eyes and the club could certainly do with a few players like him.

Back then, the Toffees were one of the best teams in the land and it’s time that things return to the way they were.

Everton

Hopefully, the next few years see the club making all the right backroom decisions.

Kevin Thelwell’s appointment may see things being done slightly differently and if that results in on-field success, then few will be complaining about it.

In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
