Michah Richards stunned by ‘Wild’ Everton star Jordan Pickford live on BBC
Micah Richards has picked out the “special” character of Everton stopper Jordan Pickford live on BBC’s Monday Night Club.
Everton took a huge step in the Premier League survival fight on Sunday, beating Chelsea 1-0 thanks to numerous world-class saves.
Richards hit back at those nitpicking at Pickford and admitted that keepers, including our very own, are “wild” in their approach.
Speaking live on BBC Monday Night Club [02 May, 17:00] Richards shared his love for the character of the keeper.
“I don’t think he should lose that,” he said. “That is what has got him to where he is now.
“They get pumped up before the game, and when you look at him and think he’s a little too much when you’re playing well, no one picks at these things. As soon as you start not playing well, everyone starts nitpicking at things and saying he’s not concentrating on his football.
“I do like his character, it’s passion, and sometimes it can go overboard. Keepers are wild, they’re always up to something, if you want to dive in front of a ball, you’ve got to be a special character anyway.”

Pickford has had a sensational season.
The fact that people are still talking about emotions and how he reacts is ludicrous, with football all that matters.
If it wasn’t for the keeper, we would have lost even more games including likely against Chelsea and even the home win over Manchester United last month.
Some of the saves that Pickford has pulled off have been out of this world, and all of us fans don’t care how he reacts as long as he keeps the ball out.
It is embarrassing that the likes of Richards still have to come out and defend players such as Pickford, who has that fire to be the best.
If we stay in the Premier League, Pickford will have had as big an effect as the likes of Anthony Gordon and Richarlison.
Blocking out this outside noise will be critical, and it looks as though our number one is doing that sensationally, let’s keep that going.
