Donny van de Beek unlikely to return for Everton v Leicester City

Donny van de Beek is unlikely to feature for Everton when they take on Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday (May 8).

The Dutchman has featured sparingly since his loan move from Manchester United in January.

Frank Lampard has played him in a deeper midfield position and his performances have been underwhelming, to say the least.

He last featured for the Toffees in April and is expected to return on May 11, per injury expert Ben Dinnery who has ruled him out of the next game.

Shame

This seems to be another pointless signing made by the club in January.

Nathan Patterson, Anwar El Ghazi and Dele Alli have also not been really given any chance since joining.

Vitaliy Mykolenko appears to be the only player to have played his way into the manager’s plan.

Van de Beek struggled at United so interest in him seems baffling.

Everton

If Lampard was to play to his strengths then it made sense to sign him but that’s not what has happened.

Hopefully, his fortunes change soon, but given the last few months, that seems extremely unlikely.

There’s a very good chance that Everton do not even consider signing him next season as he’s not had the kind of impact they thought that he would.
