Don Hutchison: Everton fans are already loving Vitaliy Mykolenko

Don Hutchison has waxed lyrical over Everton left-back Vitality Mykolenko after his goal against Leicester City in the 2-1 win on Sunday.

The Ukrainian was not an immediate starter after joining in January, but once he was handed a chance, he hasn’t lost his spot in the team.

He is now in scintillating form and one of Frank Lampard’s first names on the team sheet.

Naming him in his Team of the Week on Premier League Fanzone, Hutchison, a BT Sport pundit, said, “Mykolenko at left-back. Everton fans are loving him. Another great performance by him.”

Stunning

Mykolenko’s goal against Leicester was an important one and played a huge role in getting three points in the bag.

He came in as Lucas Digne’s replacement and plenty of eyebrows were raised as to whether or not he was the right fit.

With no experience playing at a top European club, signing the Ukrainian was an undoubted gamble.

However, it is one that the club took and have succeeded at thus far.

He offers this team a much needed impetus in the final third and is solid defensively as well – being in the right place at the right time.

Hopefully, he carries on playing in this way as he’s been imperative to Everton’s recent rise in form.
