Bologna sporting director Riccardo Bigon flies to London to meet Everton over potential transfer

Everton are set to meet with Bologna sporting director Riccardo Bigon who has flown to London to discuss potential sales, CalcioNapoli24 reports.

The Toffees have been credited with an interest in midfielder Mattias Svanberg (SportMediaset) and he is one of the players the Italian is reportedly due to discuss.

The 23-year-old Swede is one of five players who are available from the club, and Bigon has flown to London “to sell them in the Premier League” according to the report.

Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, Brentford and Newcastle are all also apparently due for talks with the Italian, although the Hammers’ are apparently looking at Jerdy Schouten rather than Svanberg.

The two midfielders, along with Scottish left-back Aaron Hickey who is interesting Arsenal (Football London), Arthur Theate and Riccardo Orsolini are the five players that will be the subject of discussions with the six top flight teams.

On offer

Although the relegation picture is still not set there is no time to waste in terms of making plans for next season.

The club will have double the work to do in preparation, with two sets of circumstances still a possibility.

But assuming the recent upturn in fortunes thanks to Frank Lampard’s tactical switch, and the performances in goal of Jordan Pickford, keep the club up then Svanberg appears to be one of the main targets.

The Swedish international has made 35 appearances in Serie A this year, scoring and assisting three goals each, and with Fabian Delph set to be out of contract, could be in line to take his place in the squad.

It’s not out of the question that the Toffees might hold an interest in one of the other four who are set to leave Bologna, especially with Dutchman Schouten fulfilling a similar midfield role.

But Svanberg, who 1000 Cuori Rossoblu expect to cost around €20million, looks to be the prime target and steps are being made towards a potential arrival at Goodison.
