Everton to face Watford without eight senior players, Emmanuel Dennis included

Everton will travel back to the capital on Wednesday (11 May) to take on already-relegated Watford as they look to secure their own safety.

The Hornets were sent back to the Championship on Saturday (7 May) after they fell to another defeat, this time at the hands of Crystal Palace and things might only get tougher for Roy Hodgson.

The former England manager will be stepping down at the end of the season but when the Toffees visit Vicarage Road, he might be close to getting the boots on himself with an injury crisis striking the squad.

As reported by Liverpool World, eight Watford players are already ruled out for a variety of reasons with top scorer Emmanuel Dennis and exciting winger Ismaila Sarr among those absent.

Juraj Kucka, Nicolas Nkoulou, Cucho Hernandez, Imran Louza, Kwadwo Baah and Hassane Kamara are also unavailable with five more players classed as doubts for the clash.

Former Toffee Josh King is one of those potentially out of contention through illness along with Kiko Femenia while Tom Cleverley, Joao Pedro and Samir are all carrying knocks.

Must win

Like the majority of Everton games recently, Frank Lampard’s side can’t really afford to lose with their Premier League safety still hanging in the balance despite dragging themselves above the dreaded dotted line at Leicester at the weekend.

There is a big danger of complacency from the Everton players though having picked up crucial wins in recent weeks against much tougher opposition.

The fans have helped to roar them on in their most recent two wins against Chelsea and the Foxes but they need to keep that passion up when they take on the Hornets.

Even with so many players out of contention to play, Watford can still pose a threat to Everton and complacency is always punished at this level so they can’t afford to give them a sniff.

An early goal would go a long way to settling the nerves with just one point separating the Toffees, Burnley and Leeds United, who currently occupy that final relegation spot.

In other Everton news, a brand new shirt sponsorship deal is close to being finalised but it all depends on whether they avoid relegation this season.
