Everton join race to sign Sporting CP midfielder Palhinha

Everton have joined a host of Premier League clubs in the race for Sporting CP and Portugal midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to Jeunesfooteux.

According to Portuguese newspaper Journal de Noticias [2 May], Tottenham are in pursuit of the 26-year-old midfielder.

However, it has now been revealed by Jeunesfooteux, that Frank Lampard’s side have joined the race for Palhinha.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with the Premier League after impressing for his country in Euro 2020

Realistic signing?

Everton are certainly ready to revamp their midfield.

With their Premier League fate still very much up in the air, the pursuit of Palhinha will not take place until their fate has been sealed.

Nevertheless, will the midfielder wish to move to a side that won’t play European football?

At 26-years-old, the midfielder will be looking for a move that will benefit him in the prime of his career.

Everton are a long way from contesting European football at present and that could well be a deciding factor in where the Portuguese midfielder ends up.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham look a good fit for the midfielder, with Spurs playing Europa League football at the very minimum next season.

Spurs are also looking to bolster their midfield options.

It’s good to see Everton’s hierarchy planning for their summer in advance.

Although they certainly won’t be looking at a Portugal midfielder if they drop into the Championship.
