Alan Shearer destroys Everton star Anthony Gordon after 3-2 defeat v Brentford
Alan Shearer has destroyed Anthony Gordon for his defending as Everton crashed to a 3-2 defeat against Brentford on Sunday afternoon at Goodison Park [15 May].
The Toffees were not helped by an early red card to Jarrad Branthwaite, with Salomon Rondon also being shown his marching orders in the dying moments of the game.
Shearer singled out Gordon for going to sleep at the back though, allowing Rico Henry to come flying in and score what was the winner with a header past Jordan Pickford.

Speaking live on Match of the Day 2 on Sunday [15 May], Shearer was not best pleased with the young attacker for his role in the second half demise.
“Have a look at Gordon here, he’s been one of Everton’s best players,” he said.
“He goes to sleep, so crucial moments for defenders. They go to sleep, look at him, he’s not aware, he’s not bright, he’s not aware of what’s around him before he notices it’s too late.”

Sleep.
The body language on show from Gordon alone in this clip is atrocious.
You can literally see the young winger sighing and walking around with no real attention to what’s going on around him and on the ball at the other side of the pitch.
By the time he does notice, Henry has reeled away to celebrate after nodding past Pickford and has left the winger scratching his head.
It is hard to be too harsh on the young star though, with his performances this season alongside Richarlison one of the few reasons we have managed to climb out of the relegation zone heading into the final week.
Frank Lampard won’t be too harsh if this is spotted when analysing the game, but he will need to send a message to make sure it never happens again.
Fingers crossed for no red cards against Crystal Palace, and hopefully, Gordon can do what he does best at the other end of the pitch this time around.
