Alan Shearer fumes at Everton striker Salomon Rondon

Alan Shearer has brandished Salomon Rondon’s challenge as ‘stupid’ during the Everton v Brentford game on Sunday.

The Toffees striker went in with both feet off the ground and was deservedly shown a straight red card for his actions.

Shearer pointed out that it was the 5th sending off under Frank Lampard, which is the highest of any team since he took over.

He said on Premier League Productions, “That’s a stupid challenge. Five reds under Frank now this season which is the highest since he took over.”

Final Everton game?

There is a good chance that Rondon is shown the door at the end of the season.

He was never a player who was going to strengthen the Everton starting eleven in the first place.

The only reason he was signed was because Rafa Benitez had previously worked with him and that he was available on a free transfer.

He’s occupying squad places and taking up wages that quite frankly, he does not deserve.

Instead, a talented youngster must be given the same kinds of chances as the Venezuelan and the club will be in a better place.

He’s set to miss three games so we’re certainly not going to see him again this season.
