Clinton Morrison gushes over 'outstanding' Vitaliy Mykolenko in Everton v Crystal Palace
Vitaliy Mykolenko has been the best of the January signings for Everton and he was at it again against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
The Ukrainian international scored his first goal for the Toffees against Leicester City and has made the left-back position his own since he arrived on Merseyside.
The 22-year-old was exceptional again in the first half against Patrick Vieira’s Eagles and his performances recently have earned major praise from many people in the media.
One of those being BBC pundit Clinton Morrison who has been living what he’s seen from Mykolenko since he arrived in the Premier League in January.
“He’s made a big difference,” Morison said on BBC Radio 5 Live (Thursday 19 May, 7:50 pm). “He’s been really good to be fair and he’s had a lot to deal with as well off the field.
“I think he’s been outstanding and that strike against Leicester, what a finish that was!”
We give Rafael Benitez an awful lot of stick as Everton fans, and rightly so for the most part, but there are some things he has done tremendously well in bringing some good players to the club.
Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend were the two incomings who garnered plenty of praise given the small amount of money we paid for them and Mykolenko is another example of his genius work in the transfer market.
Compared to Frank Lampard who has signed Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli, both of whom have been rather awful, and you have to admit that he wasn’t a complete disaster at Goodison Park.
But it takes more than just one player to keep us up and we need to improve things drastically to make sure we do so we are able to keep on progressing towards a better future where we are able to challenge the biggest clubs in the country and Mykolenko could be a player who is in that team.
In other Everton news, Farhad Moshiri should be embarrassed by the Premier League spend per point statistics.
