Everton wait in wings as Celtic agree personal terms with Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers

Everton are reportedly still waiting in the wings to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer.

According to SBI Soccer journalist Larry Henry Jr., the American centre-back has also agreed personal terms with Scottish Premiership winners Celtic.

However, they are still to find an agreement with Spurs, which has kept the door open for the Toffees and other clubs keen on signing him.

Via his personal Twitter account, Henry Jr wrote, “Cameron Carter-Vickers has indeed agreed personal teams with Celtic, but no official agreement yet between SPFL winners and Tottenham, a source close to the player confirmed. Bournemouth, Newcastle, Everton, Fulham waiting in the wings.”

Move on

Everton do need defenders this summer, but they can do way better than Carter-Vickers.

A number of regular starters at Premier League clubs would be tempted to move to Goodison Park.

The Toffees can offer higher wages and the chance of playing at a historic club.

Kevin Thelwell appears to be planning a major squad overhaul so it does not make sense to sign a player like the American.

Even with the current crop of centre-backs, he does not offer too much of an upgrade and that’s not what Frank Lampard would want.

Hopefully, Everton do not pursue his services further even if a move with Celtic falls through for whatever reason as they can do way better.
