Everton to blow competition out of water to sign James Tarkowski – Dean Jones

Everton are set to blow the competition out of the water to seal a deal to sign James Tarkowski this summer, according to Dean Jones.

The journalist has reported that the Toffees are offering the soon-to-be free agent £20,000-a-week more than other sides in the race for the Burnley enforcer.

Frank Lampard may be forced to use the free-agent market more with financial fair play rules known to be tight at Goodison Park this summer.

Speaking to GIVE ME SPORT on Friday evening [27 May], Jones shared the update which appears to indicate that there is only one winner now.

“It sounds to me like Everton are blowing other sides out of the water in order to sign Tarkowski,” he said.

“They are offering about 20 grand a week more to him than anyone else is. That’s a bold move but one that looks like it might pay off.”

Great start.

The heart of our defence has been missing a solid presence and leader for years now, and we may finally have plugged that hole with some sensational business.

Beating Burnley to relegation and then taking one of their best players for nothing will really add salt into the wound as they continue to threaten potential legal action.

Frank Lampard will know that the likes of Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Jarrad Branthwaite are not consistent enough in this side and having someone like Tarkowski will bring in just what we need.

This isn’t a fancy name signing, it is someone who will come in and do a job without making a fuss – something we have hugely missed for many years in all positions.

With others still lingering with interest, it is critical to get this one over the line as soon as possible and move on to other targets to improve this squad.
