Mike Parry slams Carlo Ancelotti for Everton comments ahead of Real Madrid v Liverpool
Everton shareholder Mike Parry has slammed Carlo Ancelotti for assuming the Toffees fans will be supporting Real Madrid.
Los Blancos take on Everton’s arch rivals Liverpool in the final of the UEFA Champions League on Saturday (May 28).
Ancelotti has said that he considers himself an Evertonian and sees this game as a derby, expecting the entire fanbase to be supporting Real against the Reds.
Reading his comments, Parry took to Twitter to say, “Are you crazy Ancelotti? You used @Everton – where you were paid a million pounds a month by our hapless and naive owner – as a stepping stone to Real Madrid: You gave us the worst home results in history. I couldn’t care less who wins tonight but you will never have my support.”
Fair enough
Barring the fact that he does not care about who wins, Parry has hit the nail on the head here.
All Evertonians will want Real Madrid to win this final as they cannot tolerate gloating Liverpool fans winning the ‘treble’.
That said, Ancelotti did not overachieve by any stretch of the imagination at Goodison Park so it’s a bit rich that he assumes the fans will support him.
Had he won the club their first trophy this century then there could have been some adulation among the fans.
However, he did not achieve anything great and just left the club when they needed him the most for a summer where FFP was going to be a huge concern.
He’s certainly not a popular figure in and around Goodison Park, regardless of what he thinks.
In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the recent weeks.
