Newcastle can match Everton offer for James Tarkowski as £5million demand made
Newcastle can match any wage offer of Everton as they battle to sign Burnley defender James Tarkowski this summer, according to David Maddock.
The Mirror journalist has reported that the soon-to-be free agent will demand £5million-per-year in wages, which equals £100,000-a-week.
Everton are set to release numerous players to free up the “serious” funds needed to fund the transfer as Frank Lampard desperately looks to reinforce his defence.

Writing for the Mirror on Friday afternoon [03 June], Maddock shared the latest news over a potential deal which could cause some nerves on Merseyside.
“Lampard particularly wants a central defender, that much is clear, because he indicated as much to reporters who spoke to him at the end of the season, and it seems Everton are close to agreeing on a deal with England defender James Tarkowski, as Mirror Football reported last night,” he wrote.
“That will free up serious funds to give Tarkowski close to the money he is looking for, with the defender thought to be seeking in the region of £5m a year, or £100,000 a week.
“Newcastle are also in the running and can match any offer Everton make.”

Problem.
Newcastle and their huge pockets are going to be a problem for anyone to compete with this summer.
Everton splashing out £5million in wages sounds like a huge amount, but when getting rid of the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson finally and his massive contract, that helps.
The Icelandic international leaving will likely cover that whole wage with ease, but if Newcastle know that the Toffees may not be able to go higher, they could swoop in.
Lampard being desperate will push Kevin Thelwell to push this one through quickly with Farhad Moshiri’s blessing.
Maddock reports that a deal is close to being agreed and once that is done, it looks as though nothing will be able to stop it, fingers crossed anyway.
Newcastle look set on landing Sven Botman, and that is fine by us as we use that to get this Tarkowski deal done and dusted to kickstart our summer business.
