Oleksandr Zinchenko touted around Everton and Newcastle ahead of potential major move
Manchester City ace Oleksandr Zinchenko has been touted around clubs such as Everton and Newcastle, according to The Athletic.
The online source has reported that the signing of a new number six is set to be made a priority at Goodison Park in the upcoming summer window.
Zinchenko is facing an uncertain future at The Etihad under Pep Guardiola, and could find himself making the move to Merseyside if a deal presents itself.
Writing in their latest column, Patrick Boyle and Greg O’Keeffe shared the possibility of another Ukrainian star landing at Goodison Park.
“The addition of a No 6 — someone capable of receiving the ball and stopping opposition attacks — is also set to be a priority,” they wrote.
“With his future at Manchester City up in the air, left-back and occasional central midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko has been touted around clubs such as Everton and Newcastle.”
Interesting.
Zinchenko has been a brilliant squad option for Guardiola in recent years.
There could be big doubts about his ability to immediately step up to being an important starter every single week instantly after making a big move.
Another part that this potential move would depend on is the price – will City demand big money? Everton would only be able to get this one across the line if it was a decent investment.
For a player who rarely starts, even at the champions, you would expect that the fee wouldn’t be more than £10-15million – something that could really appeal to the Toffees.
One player who has thrived since his arrival is Vitalii Mykolenko, so the signing of another one of his Ukraine international teammates could help push him to another level too.
This is certainly one to watch as we enter the month of June and the transfer window really starts to get going.
In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the recent weeks.
