Everton board facing major ‘stick or twist’ decision over future of Richarlison

The Everton board are facing a “stick or twist” decision over the future of Richarlison this summer, according to Chris Beesley.

The Liverpool ECHO journalist has suggested that with only two years left on his current deals, Toffees chiefs must decide whether to agree new terms or move him on for a big price.

Interestingly, it is suggested that Richarlison starring at the World Cup with Brazil later in 2022 could up the price, which is a risk that those at Everton may decide to take.

Writing in the print edition of the Liverpool ECHO [06 June, pg. 44], Beesley shared an interesting update on the future of the Brazilian beyond this summer.

“Unlike his fellow frontman Richarlison, who has just two years left on his current deal, forcing Goodison Park chiefs to either stick or twist this summer in terms of getting him to agree fresh terms or cash in before his market value declines,” he wrote.

“Although, a mid-season World Cup where the potential of a starring role for Brazil could potentially up his price tag.”

Stick or Twist.

This will be the phrase on everyone’s lips regarding Richarlison.

It looks as though the Brazilian is ready to move on, but Everton will want to recoup and make profit on the potential £50million deal that brought him to Goodison Park back in 2018.

With clubs such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain potentially making moves for the South American, that should be no problem and Everton have to stand firm if that interest progresses [Daily Mail].

Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard will be working closely together to figure out the best way forward, and if that is to try and persuade him to sign a new deal, Farhad Moshiri will need to open the chequebook.

Even if the new deal comes with a promise to sell in January, that is something that could protect the club and make sure that no one can use his current contract coming to an end soon as bait further down the line.

Richarlison has given his all to this club over the past four years, and no one can be too angry if he does decide to move on, let’s just hope it benefits the Toffees too.
