Everton are interested in signing Rennes full-back Adrien Truffert in the summer transfer window, according to L'Equipe.

The French newspaper reported on 7 June that a host of clubs including West Ham and Leicester are also vying for his signature.

It is understood that there is interest in him from European clubs like Ajax and Hoffenheim and the youngster dreams of playing in the Premier League or Bundesliga in the future.

Good move?

The 20-year-old has been a regular member of the Rennes side. The left-back made 79 appearances in the last two seasons, and his performances have generated wide attention.

The youngster in a recent interview (quoted by Stade Rennes on 1 June) admitted that he is aware of the interest from Everton and Ajax, but he is not thinking about leaving the club.

However, L'Equipe suggest that the youngster is being represented by the Stellar Agency and they have got great contacts. A potential exit for him can't be ruled out if he wants to move on.

The newspaper further adds that he wants to sort his future, and is likely to have a chat with the club hierarchy to know what their plans are for him.

At the moment, it's not clear whether the Toffees have made any formal inquiry about the player, but they do retain a strong interest.

Signing a left-back is necessary this summer, but whether Truffert is the answer to their problems is detable.
