Getting rid of Andre Gomes right step for Everton
Everton have asked veteran midfielder Andre Gomes to look for another club ahead of the next campaign, according to Football Insider.
The 28-year-old has struggled to get regular game time ever since joining the Liverpool-based club three years back.
Therefore, as per the latest report, Everton’s top-tier management is willing to listen to offers for Portugal international in a bid to create room for new signings.

Gomes came to Goodison Park in the summer of 2019 in a deal worth £22 million from Spanish La Liga giants FC Barcelona.

Inconsistent Midfielder
When the 28-year-old was signed by Barcelona, he came in as a player who was an important part of Portugal’s European championship-winning squad.
However, not only he didn’t perform like a European champion, he went down in the pecking order in the list of midfielders Everton had during his time.
Despite making 100 appearances for the Merseyside club, the former Benfica man could only score twice and provided seven assists [Transfermarkt], an incredibly low return for someone who costs millions of pounds and who does not have defensive attributes to his game.
In the 2021-22 season, Gomes provided an assist whereas he lost possession of the ball after every 3.8 touches and was dribbled past 1.7 times per match [sofascore].
Those numbers clearly show that it is time for Everton to move ahead without the likes of Gomes as they would not want to be involved in another relegation battle in the next season.
In other Everton news, one Sky Sports pundit wants the club to take up the offer of a “coveted player” to further strengthen.
