Frank Lampard wants four more Everton signings after James Tarkowski

Frank Lampard wants to make five summer signings at Everton regardless of any club take-over, with one already agreed, according to The Telegraph.

A consortium led by former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon has entered into talks over buying the club, and is expected to be well-disposed towards the Toffees manager due in part to the pair’s history in West London.

The deal for former Burnley defender James Tarkowski is already agreed, but whether there is a change of ownership or not the former Stamford Bridge boss is pressing ahead with plans to bring more players in.

The Telegraph report says: “Regardless of a proposed takeover, Lampard is hoping to sign as many as five new players this summer.

“James Tarkowski has agreed a free transfer move after his Burnley contract expired and there is interest in Chelsea midfielders Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour, as well as Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks.”

Winks is available as part of Tottenham’s offer to buy Brazilian star Richarlison, and Goodison News pundit Kevin Campbell believes a loan move for at least one of the Chelsea pair is quite likely.

Despite the financial constraints he is currently operating under Lampard still looks to be aiming for a considerable overhaul in his squad.

In light of the poor performance of the team during the 2021/22 season that is no real surprise, and with star man Richarlison apparently on the way out there should be some boost to the funds even if it isn’t the full amount received.

Winning the race to sign key free agent Tarkowski, who left Turf Moor after his contract expired, is a major boost since the defence was a major weakness during the relegation battle.

With Fabian Delph leaving on a free and Donny van de Beek’s loan over, as well as further potential exits yet to materialise, there is game time available in the midfield.

And if the manager isn’t confident in his strike force with Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming off a fitness nightmare for most of the last year, and youngster Ellis Simms looking promising but unproven after a decent loan move to Hearts, he may be in the market for a goalscorer to replace his Brazilian star.

Fans will be eager to see what he can manage during the summer as everyone associated with the club looks to make a big improvement on the previous campaign.
