Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton and Arsenal in race to sign Brighton ace Yves Bissouma

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly beaten Everton and Arsenal in the race to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

According to Sky Sports Transfer Centre (June 14, 10:05 am), the Mali international is set to have his medical at the North London club on Thursday.

The 25-year-old has only a year left on his deal and is set to leave the Seagulls for a fee in the region of £25million.

One that got away

Bissouma is undoubtedly one of the better defensive midfielders in the Premier League and Spurs have got him for a discount.

He would walk into most teams’ starting eleven and actually make them a better outfit with and without possession.

Everton desperately need to sign at least two quality midfielders this summer and it’s a shame that they did not push hard enough for the Malian.

Arsenal and Spurs were in the race and both could offer him higher wages and European football, but he could have been a part of a revolution at Goodison Park and the Toffees could have tried to force Brighton’s hand.

Hopefully, they try to sign someone as good as Bissouma this summer, although that’s going to be extremely difficult, given the number of teams looking to sign defensive midfielders.

In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the recent weeks.
