Brighton want to sign Everton-linked Olympiacos defender Pape Abou Cisse

Brighton are reportedly keen on Everton-linked Olympiacos defender Pape Abou Cisse this summer.

According to the Daily Star, the 26-year-old is valued at £15million and is expected to be sold in this window.

The Toffees wanted to sign the defender in the January transfer window, with the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Leicester and Liverpool also said to be keen.

Renewed interest?

Whether or not the Toffees renew their interest in the defender, remains to be seen, as they are in the market to sign centre-backs.

Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina all underperformed last season and Frank Lampard will need to solidify his backline if he is to avoid another relegation scrap.

For £15million, the Senegal international is available for a reasonable price and is only expected to get better in the coming years.

If not Everton, Brighton or another Premier League club is very likely to snap up his services and that could leave the other sides regretting what could have been for them.

It seems like the 26-year-old has outgrown his current employers after making a colossal 131 appearances for him.

Any club that signs him will be getting a centre-back who’s not only good at defending, but one who can be a menace from set pieces and can grab his team an unlikely goal from set pieces.

If we were advising Kevin Thelwell, he’s one player we would be looking into.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have submitted a bid to seal a major summer signing and the player is already on his way to England.
