Everton set to announce James Tarkowski signing at end of next week

Everton are reportedly set to announce the free signing of Burnley defender James Tarkowski at the end of next week.

According to the Mirror, everything is in place to sign the Englishman and he could officially join the Toffees once his deal at Turf Moor expires on June 30.

He will be the club’s first major signing of the summer and Frank Lampard is determined to sign more players to improve his squad.

Most Premier League clubs have already started to make their mark in the transfer window and snapping up players left, right and centre but that can’t be said about Everton.

Certain names would be welcomed at Goodison Park as well if the Toffees acted more proactively in the market.

They now will have to start their search properly as they do not seem close to signing anyone after getting the Tarkowski deal over the line.

Hopefully, Lampard turns to his contacts book and gets in a few players sooner rather than later as Toffees fans are already fearing for the worst.

Richarlison looks set to leave and without him, the squad will look weaker than it was on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign.

Kevin Thelwell needs to work faster in order to get more targets to Lampard who will then pick and choose what he fancies.

He has done a good job with the restructuring but this is the most important thing in a transfer window and it’s why he’s paid the big bucks to take over from Marcel Brands.
