Everton signing Andrey Santos will mark shift in transfer policy

Everton are considering a move to land young Vasco De Gama midfielder Andrey Santos in the summer transfer window, according to Le10Sport.

The Toffees want to put their disappointing recent Premier League season behind them and have been active already in the transfer market.

One of the areas manager Frank Lampard is keen to strengthen is the midfield ahead of the next campaign.

The report stated that Toffees will have a tough outing in signing the midfielder as he has been also linked with the likes of French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

One for the future

Not many Evertonians will know about Santos before the Everton links but if they would know more about the player, they would definitely like the idea of welcoming him to the club.

Santos will provide energy to the Everton midfield. Even though he prefers playing as a central midfielder, he can also play the role Abdoulaye Doucouré plays for the Toffees.

Everton already have many experienced midfielders in the squad, such as Allan. Moreover, they invested heavily in ready-made midfielders, such as Andre Gomes and James Rodriguez and both of them turned out to be failures for the club.

Therefore, to see the ownership turning their interest in a Brazilian youngster seems to be a surprising but bold move.

It shows that the Merseyside club is trying to make changes to their transfer policies and want to prioritize young players once again, something which will definitely please the Goodison Park-faithful.

Beating PSG to this deal could be a real masterclass.
