Harry Winks keen on Everton move as Spurs transfer saga continues in past 24 hours
Spurs midfielder Harry Winks is now “keen” to make the move to Everton this summer, according to the Liverpool ECHO.
The newspaper has reported in their print edition [23 June, pg.45] that the England international would be major signing number two, with a deal for James Tarkowski already in place.
There is hope from all three parties that a deal can be done, with loan and permanent transfer talks underway at Goodison Park.
This could become a real transfer saga, though.
i News have reported in the past 24 hours that talks have hit an impasse between Spurs and Everton, with the Toffees only really wanting an initial loan move.
The London club are said to be pushing a permanent switch though, something that may not be possible given the strict Financial Fair Play constraints in Merseyside.
Get it done.
If Spurs are as keen as they seem to get Winks out of the club, Everton need to get a deal over the line.
The England international gives Frank Lampard something he is crying out for, the ability to get on the ball in midfield and dictate a game – we are desperate.
Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan are our main two options in that area, and one prefers bombing forward, with the other simply there to hold, block and tackle.
Winks would bring control, and if he wants a move badly enough, he could make that plea to Spurs even if it is just an initial loan move on the table.
That could always change into a permanent switch at the end of the 2022-23 season, and that is something that could please all parties at this stage.
It has been reported by Sky Sports that other midfielders could be pursued now, so something will need to be ironed quickly if Winks is to arrive – keep one eye on this.
