Everton submit formal bid to tempt Sporting into negotiation for Matheus Nunes
Everton appear to have made a formal approach to sign Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to a report from O Jogo.
The Portuguese newspaper reported on their printed version (25 June, page 7), that Everton are willing to meet the player’s release clause, which is around £51m. The Toffees have tabled an offer of over £34m, with incentives added with the hope that it would entice Sporting into doing a deal.
Wolves, Barcelona and Manchester United are also interested. The 23-year-old knows that he has lots of time left in the window to make a decision, and wishes to join a club that can challenge for the title.

Difficult
The midfielder enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season (2021-22) where he managed four goals and five assists in 50 games in all competitions.
Bolstering the midfield is a priority for the Toffees, and Nunes would be a blockbuster addition.
It seems the Toffees are ready to push their limits to sign a quality player as Frank Lampard is looking to bolster the midfield this summer.
Fabian Delph is set to leave at the end of the month, while the futures of Allan and Andre Gomes are uncertain.

Likewise, Tom Davies will have to prove a point to his manager having missed almost the entire campaign last season.
Correio da Manha reported on 17 June that the Lions want a fee of around £34m and Sporting are already looking for replacements. Probably, this has encouraged Everton to come up with a formal move.
Nunes would be an upgrade over the existing group Lampard has at his disposal.
The midfielder would love to test himself in a better league, but he prefers to move to a big club that can challenge for the title.
Everton may find it really hard to tempt him to make a switch to Goodison Park.
