Everton making move to sign Joe Rodon a risk worth taking in World Cup year
Everton have been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon in the ongoing transfer window, according to talkSPORT.
The Toffees are in the market to sign players to strengthen their defensive unit after a horrible campaign where they narrowly managed to escape relegation.
It is because of this reason that Everton are also closing in on the likes of the Burnley defender James Tarkowski who is set to leave the club on a free.

The reports suggest that the Merseyside club will be facing competition from newly promoted Nottingham Forest for the signature of the Wales international, who has three years left on his current deal.
Good Addition
Even though Rodon likes to play as a central defender, he can also play as a full-back depending on the manager’s instructions.
At Bolton, he was highly rated due to his versatility. However, he has only made three Premier League appearances in the recently concluded season [Transfermarkt]
Everton had the fifth-worst record in the recent Premier League season, conceding 66 goals and having a goal difference of -23.

As a result of their defensive instability, many of their attacking moves were disjointed with players often finding themselves out of position [Premier League].
While many would argue that Rodon is not a first-team material but in all fairness, he was never really given a chance to showcase his talent at the highest level during his time at Spurs, becoming an outcast.
With Everton clearly short on players in that role, signing Rodon will give them a player who is still very young, is a full-time international and is someone who will be desperate to showcase his talent at the biggest stage of all before going to Qatar later this year to represent his national team Wales.
