Everton could allow Ellis Simms to leave permanently amid Rangers interest
Everton could reportedly sanction a permanent exit of striker Ellis Simms this summer amid interest from Scotland.
According to Scotsman journalist Barry Anderson, Rangers are aware that he could be available on a permanent transfer while Hearts are also monitoring the situation.
Earlier, it seemed like the 21-year-old was likelier to leave on loan, but a permanent exit is on the cards.
Anderson wrote on Twitter, “Hearts pushing to get Simms back. Rangers are aware he could become available. Both clubs also looking at other forwards. Loan would seem most likely but Everton may consider a permanent. Richarlison’s exit to Spurs leaves them a striker short so that could delay Simms moving.”
Rangers bound?
If it comes down to a choice between Hearts and Rangers, he’s certainly going to pick the latter if he’s guaranteed playing time at both clubs.
It’s surprising why the Toffees are considering letting him leave on a permanent basis as he’s one of the best young talents at the club.
They look no closer to replacing Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury woes may not be resolved for next season.
Having options in the final third is always seen as a welcome sign and we’re surprised to see the possibility of him leaving.
The 2022/23 season could’ve been his breakthrough campaign and we hope that Frank Lampard gives him a chance in pre-season.
The Toffees need to speed up their transfer dealings and try completing deals for Harry Winks and Armando Broja sooner rather than later.
