Everton to make official offer to Wolves for £25million-rated Morgan Gibbs-White - Sky Sports

Everton are expected to make their interest in Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White with an official offer, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

talkSPORT had reported earlier on Monday (1 July) that the Toffees were looking at the 22-year-old who is also of interest to Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.

His current side value him at £25million and it is as yet unknown whether it will be possible to land him but an official bid is on the cards.

Sky Sports reporter Sheth wrote on his Twitter account on Monday evening: “Everton interested in Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White & expected to make official offer.

“Told Wolves value him at £25m but yet to decide whether they will allow him to leave. Nottingham Forest have also shown an interest.”

The England under-21 international spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Bramall Lane despite making three Wolves appearances at the start of the campaign – he made 37 appearances for the Blades, scoring 12 times and assisting 10 more.

It may have come in the second tier but those numbers are certainly something that the Toffees would love to add to their midfield.

Frank Lampard wants to strengthen the area where he was so prolific in his own playing career as a priority, so it is no surprise that he likes the look of someone who can impact on the scoresheet so heavily.

As a young English player there is bound to be interest even on top of the two named competitors, and while he did so well at Sheffield United before he is likely to prioritise top fight involvement at his age.

Harry Winks is a name that has cropped up most frequently in terms of a target for the Toffees boss to revamp his midfield, and that may still be something he returns to despite the Richarlison negotiations being completed without the 26-year-old’s involvement.

However, the Spurs man is not known for his goals or assists in the same way that the Molineux youngster has proven to be capable of, so the excitement generated by Gibbs-White would be much greater.

After being stuck in the market until the sale of the Brazilian star this is the sort of move that could really start to re-engage the fanbase, and could be an excellent addition on top of the free agent capture of James Tarkowski.
